Private Air Charter to Val-d'Isere

If you are planning a skiing trip to the Alps one would normally have one of two options. Either you take a flight with your package tour operator or you drive down to the Alps yourself. However, both these options are not enjoyable.

If you go by car you waste precious time which could be better spent on the slopes rather than watching the bumper in front of you. Flying by air sardine is not much of an improvement. When you fly by package aircraft you might have to travel long distances before you actually reach the airport, you are likely to suffer delays because of security and there is a good chance that you luggage may get lost.

There is a third way - private jet charter to Val-d'Isere. The advantage of taking a private jet to Val-d'Isere is that you can fly from 300 plus local airports which means you don't waste time messing around travelling to the larger airports. Private air charter means you avoid all the long security queues. It also means your luggage will not get lost and your ski equipment is less likely to get damaged.

The Val-d'Isere Ski Resort
Parts of Val-d'Isere are typical picture post card ski resorts with their traditional chalets but the Western area of Val-d'Isere is more high rise buildings. The skiing area, otherwise known as "l'Espace Killy", encompasses 140 plus runs that stretch to the adjoining town of Tignes.

Val-d'Isere offers both groomed slops and off-piste skiing. Watch out for the runs coming into town because some of the blue runs are closer to red runs. As one would expect the slopes are equipped with both gondolas and the small button chair lifts.

In the recent past you were able to do summer skiing on Glacier De Pissaillas but the glassier has retreated, possibly because of global warming. The snow here is excellent but in winter snow cannons are used on some slopes to help cope with the volume of traffic.

The Tignes boasts much of the same in terms of excellent runs. If you want to let loose you can go on the Tignes's wide "motorway" runs. You can catch the funicular to the Grande Motte glacier.

The most exclusive place to stay in Val-d'Isere
If you are not on a tight budget we would recommend the Les Barmes de l'Ours hotel, at the foot of the famous Bellevarde Olympic ski run, right by the main ski lifts. The hotel combines luxury with the traditional alpine chalet experience. All the rooms have state of the art entertainment, designer bath products and suites include both a bath and a Jacuzzi.

Val-d'Isère has a lively après-ski. There is a nice selection of pubs and clubs and you can catch a free bus that shuttles between Val-d'Isère and La Daille.

Stansted Airport - Essential Travel Guide

Stansted London Transfers - Travel Tips - Save Money Today!

Stansted Airport is one of the fastest growing airports in the world. With an average of over 20 million passengers now using the airport, effective and efficient transport infrastructure to and from this transport hub will be essential in the years to come. This article will hopefully provide readers with a more 'practical' insight into getting to and from the airport and ways in which to save you money.

Stansted Airport is well connected; dedicated rail express link, motorway link, regular coach services, regional/national/international flights, the list goes on.

Readers should note that no other airport has been as carefully designed as Stansted in terms of getting you to and from the airport. Originally a US air base in World War 2, this airport has grown rapidly since the Governments decision in the 1970's to make this airport London's third major airport hub.

Stansted Express is the new dedicated rail link from Stansted Airport to London Liverpool Street. A fantastic service, trains run directly from underneath the main terminal building every 15 minutes and so for a quick, seamless connection to the City of London this is the way to quickly get to London. Links for London 2012 will also be available from Tottenham Hale to Stratford in order to manage the millions of tourists expected for the London Games. The Stansted Express service provides travellers with a virtual non-stop service to London and there are also refreshments sold on the train too. Big tip however - buy your tickets online or from your airline when travelling to save £££'s. This is a premium service and so try to make savings where you can - do not leave it until Stansted Airport to buy your tickets.

The cheapest way to get into London is via Easy Bus, part of the Easy Group that brings you Easy Jet. Booking can be made in advance and tickets cost from just £2 to take you from Stansted Airport to Central London, a Bargain! Easy Bus offer one way fare deals to and from all of London's airports. Big Tip - buy as early as you can, i.e. buy when you order your flights, and save £££s, again avoid buying your tickets at the airport terminal building.

For those of you that require your journey to and from Stansted Airport to be in a little more comfort and privacy then following much research we would recommend Stansted London Taxi Service. They use executive/MPV type vehicles for the price of a standard taxi, they are cheaper than the taxi company in the terminal building and they also offer female drivers for female travellers - very clever. Big tip - book your taxi online or call +44 (0) 1279 816901 to avoid disappointment - fares to Central London start from just £59!

When you are at Stansted Airport you will notice that the airport has undergone a massive multi million pound refit in recent years - most of the big name shops are on site and so make sure you take advantage of the tax free goodies on offer!

If you are looking to stay overnight at the airport our big tip would be to use Late Rooms as there is always plenty of choice and by using this web site you are guaranteed to save money.

If you get time local 'must see' tourist attractions include Audley End House near Saffron Walden, Historic Saffron Walden itself [a beautiful old English market town], Cambridge, Newmarket, Ely and its fabulous cathedral, Wimpole Hall, and nearby Hatfield Forest, an original Royal hunting forest located just minutes from the airport.

Hot Holidays Spots

Although there is a financial crisis going on, but holidays are something that always remain in demand. People are cutting down on the level of luxury and the amount of money spent on holidays, but the trend of going on holidays is still there, and people are inclining more towards destinations that are more value oriented.

There are many hot holiday spots which always prove out to be better than others due to the unique and quality propositions that they offer. Hence, even the credit crunch, there are several holiday destinations that still receive a lot of tourists and offer high levels of value and enjoyment along with the real holiday spirit.

Canada is one of the great places for holidays and is the second largest country in the world. This place has a lot to offer that will truly intrigue and impress you with its great memories that would stay with you forever.

If you want to see some more vibrancy and a wine culture that nearly matches with that in France, then you ought to go to South Africa which has all the great things that you may require in order to spend a memorable holiday. The country is a multicultural one, and would leave you in a state of awe for a good length of time.

For the people who love history and culture, Bulgaria is the place which is not only rich in culture and history but also has beautiful landscapes and beaches. If you want to spend a holiday in Europe, then Bulgaria is a good choice, though the place is not much explored yet, but still holds a lot of potential.

If you are in the mood of doing something unusual while being in Europe, you can go to Iceland and explore it as it is a great holiday spot this year. The country seems almost unspoilt in every way and holds a certain mystery and intrigue which is nothing but appealing. If you are more in mood for some Asian flavour, then you can try going to Thailand which offers almost the best value for your money. Thailand has a lot to offer and explore.

If you want to experience something that is truly exotic and very rich in culture, then you might consider going to China for your holidays. The city has an optimal combination of the ancient and the modern, an aspect that only increases China's appeal as a great land.

Other than the ones mentioned above, there are countless other spots that are very hot and great for spending holidays. The place that you may choose depends upon your own preferences and budget. It also depends on how many days you have for your holiday. Another thing that comes in here is that of the preference of the region in which you would want to spend the holidays. Whatever destination you choose for your holidays, it is always good to do research and look for the best bargains and discounts for getting maximum value for your money and time.

DJ Flight Cases

When you DJ you will understand how important it is to keep all of your equipment safe and secure at all times. DJ flight cases ensure that your equipment is in the best possible place for transport and when in use. The equipment you are using is expensive and some times can not be easily replaced which is why purchasing the right DJ cases is essential. You want to transport your equipment easily and safely as that is your livelyhood and without that you cannot work.

When working as a professional DJ you will need to move your equipment from venue to venue often and this has to be done with care. The best way to transport your items is with DJ flight cases as these are specially designed for the job. When you place your equipment in one of these DJ cases you are protecting it from knocks and bangs and prolonging its life. There is a different flight case for every individual piece of equipment ensuring that they are protected in the best possible way.

These type of flight cases are simply heavy duty boxes which are lightweight to carry but are the exact size to carry individual pieces of equipment. DJ flight cases are designed to not only have a tough exterior but also a custom made foam interior. This foam will allow your equipment to rest against it in transit and remain fully protected. DJ cases although look very similar to other flight cases they are purpose built for DJ equipment.

If you store your equipment in proper DJ cases then you will ensure that it will last longer, none of your equipment is cheap and this means it is expensive to replace. Rather than worrying about it in transit if you protect it well then it will survive the journey and be ready for you to simply set up and begin work. Although there are many different types of DJ cases available to purchase you have to consider what you will need the DJ flight cases for. If you are using them for work purposes and need to ensure that your equipment is stored and transported in the best possible way then spending more is an idea.

You can have them custom designed to have your logo or name on the outside and often this is an idea if sharing the DJ box with other DJ's. It will make your cases easier to identify amoungst everyone elses. If you go for cheaper options they are often thinner and you may find that if they get knocked then this will damage your equipment. This style of DJ flight cases are more suited to people wanting to store their equipment at home. If you are on a budget then you should try to buy an expensive DJ cases for your most expensive item and cheaper ones for other things.

Upgrading them as soon as you can. You will find several different designs and styles in good music stores or online, if you know exactly what you are looking for then finding DJ cases online can be an ideal way to save money.

Flight Simulator Controls - The Essentials

Yoke

The first piece of equipment you will encounter is the flight sim yoke, which is very similar to the actual airplane yokes. It is mainly used during civilian simulation. It is not so easy to use a yoke for combat simulators because of the limited flexibility, which is why most pro flight simmers have both yoke and joysticks for civilian and combat flight games. As a beginner, though, it is best to start with civilian sims before going combat so you will get experience with a yoke first.

The yoke is mounted onto your desktop and helps you monitor and control the engine, time and quadrants, among other functions. Most yokes are designed and function almost exactly like the real thing, so you will have all the amazing features of an actual plane yoke.

Rudder Pedals

These are for braking and controlling the rudder, on the aircraft, and they come with 3 axis functions, which are toe braking, left braking and right braking. If the game supports it, the harder or lighter you push on the pedals, the harder or lighter the brakes are applied in flight. As an added advantage, these brakes can also be used for driving games, so it is usually easier to transition from driving to flight sim braking functions.

Throttle

The next most important control you will find is the throttle, which can be bought separately or together with the yoke. The throttle helps you monitor and control the power and fuel in the plane whether civilian or combat. It usually has 3 controls for this function and it is absolutely essential for flight simulators.

Hands-on-Throttle-and-Stick Control System

The Hands-on-Throttle-and-Stick, or HOTAS, is a flight sim control system that you can use instead of all the keyboard controls when playing. It makes it a lot easier when you have minimal distractions like looking for the key when in combat. Most flight simulators are better with HOTAS systems and you will find these under many different brand names and designs.

Twist stick

The last control is the twist stick, which is a joystick that is twistable and it accesses the sim rudder function. It is better than getting pedals, though some flight sim fans do prefer pedals than the twist stick.

These are the main flight simulator controls that you will need to be familiar with before you venture into flight sim games.

Flight Tracker GPS

If you have ever wondered about flight tracker GPS then you have come to the right place. First we would like to tell you that nearly every portable unit that is out there is VFR rated but if you have an emergency you will be able to fly IFR. The truth is that the maps known as Great Jeppesen are standard on the tracker units. Today it seems that the feature being used the most on all of the portable flight units is the HIS.

Also included in the best flight tracker GPS unites is the ARTCC, FSS frequencies. You may not realize it but today pilots are coming face to face with a pretty serious hazard. There are tons of obstacles that are currently going around the world and this is not safe at all. There are new units that have databases and will tell where these obstacles that are going around the earth can be found. Many times we have read about an accident happening because of a flight into terrain and hopefully the flight tracker GPS will change this.

There is a new flight tracker GPS and it's Jeppesen data bases and these will show you a colored map that shows the terrain that should be avoided. Today many individuals are saying these systems are a lifesaver and that is no lie. The flight GPS has stopped many flights from crashing into terrain. As you see today's world is becoming more and more safe thanks to the advancements in technology.

When using a flight tracker GPS you will be able to track the things around you and it will give you a never-ending situational awareness. If you have a very good unit then it will show you the altitude sensitive alerts that will keep you out of the restricted airspace and will make sure you stay on the flight that is properly assigned to you. The latest flight tracking GPS units that are pretty good are AOPA and this is an airport director that will help you when it comes to planning your flights that will be taken to the airports that are going to give you the services you need.

We must tell you if you are thinking about purchasing a flight tracker GPS unit then you have made a good decision. The truth is that purchasing one just so happens to be a great investment if you are a aviation pilot. You will find these flight tracking GPS units will provide you nice situation awareness that is accurate and will keep you and everyone else around you safe.

So, if a person wishes to go skiing for their net holiday you should look for destinations in countries like Austria and Switzerland. Again, people who are conservative on their budget can go on all inclusive holidays in Egypt or Turkey.

Do not hesitate in searching through multiple websites to get the best deal on your Summer holiday, especially if you have seen all what your High Street travel agent has to offer you in terms of all inclusive holidays, you will find that most often the internet serves the best resource for travel deals. Flight Tracker GPS - Portable Aviation GPS

Almost all the portable flight tracker GPS units are VFR rated however in an emergency you certainly would be very able to fly IFR. Great jeppesen base maps are standard on these units. Probably the most used feature on all portable aviation units is the excellent HSI. Full Jeppesen Chart data base that include ARTCC, FSS frequencies are also included in the best flight tracker GPS units. These VFR units also include the final approach waypoints that could come in handy if a panel fails or a VFR conditions suddenly deteriorate.

Thousands of obstacles have been erected around the world and for the general aviation pilot they pose a serious hazard especially around small uncontrolled airports. The new portable aviation flight tracker GPS units have data bases that provide the latest obstacle locations. It should be noted that you should update your data base frequently through a Jeppesen subscription. How many times have we all read an accident report that has "flight into terrain" as the cause? The new Jeppesen data bases also have colored mapping that provides terrain avoidance features that can be a life saver especially in mountain flying.

Some top portable aviation units provide high resolution weather data for most of the US in real time. NEXRAD radar, METARs, TAFs, TFRs, Winds Aloft and lightning data are overlaid the Jeppesen topographic mapping database. This is basically the same feature that is found on the best panel mounted aviation units.

The moving map features of these units allow you to accurately track your flight path and provide constant situational awareness. Some portable flight tracker GPS units also generate and display altitude sensitive alerts to keep you out of restricted airspace and on the proper assigned flight level. If you have ever landed at a strange at night trying to find the right taxiway then the new portable aviation units will provide you with a moving map of the airport taxiways. This will keep ground control off your back and get you to the FBO quickly.

Additional great features included in the latest flight tracking GPS units include the AOPA airport directory to help you plan your flight to airports that provide the services that you need, fast real time map updates, ability to do flight planning back at your office or home and an instrument page that can supplement your panel information or in case of an emergency replace it.

Purchasing and using a portable aviation GPS unit is a great investment for every general aviation pilot. These flight tracking GPS units provide great situation awareness that is necessary to make each flight as safe and efficient as it can possibly be.

The Most Dangerous Places in Europe

The last summer brought an exhausting sequence of disasters throughout the Europe. The forest fires damaged at least a half of Europe, even the resort places popular among tourists. What the fire didn't manage to destroy was added by the floods.

The reason of the fires was extremely hot weather. In Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania the air temperature reached the level of +45C; more than 650 thousand people passed away because of acute conditions and cardiac arrests as well as because of direct sunstrokes. There were about 19 thousand people hospitalized in Romania.

In Slovakia the heat was the reason of snake invasion, in Spain- mice invasion, which have consumed the vegetable crop seeds in Castilla y Leon and have reached the border of the famous wine making province Rioja.

Such a burning weather became the reason of numerous fires. On the 7th of august only there were registered 236 large-scale ignitions, mostly in southern regions. In Lazio and Toscana the forests still burn; before the tourists used to walk there. In the middle of June the fires in the resort areas of Apulia, Campania, Calabria and Abruzzi were the reason of an urgent evacuation of approximately 4 thousand people. At Sardinia and Sicilia have been evacuated at least a few campsites and hotels.

During the July- August there were registered almost 2 thousand fires. For the most part it was the North area of the country and the Peloponnese peninsula which suffered. The fire almost got to the Affine; it caused the evacuation of a child-camp, 5 villages and 2 monasteries. At the same moment due tot the heat Greece suffered from electricity interruption which almost led to energy crisis.

Till this very moment the South of France is on fire. The intense smoke generation even interferes with the traffic. The city of Verdon was also captured in the fire circle.

While one part of Europe was being burnt by the sun, the other part was being flooded by rains. At the end of June the heavy-showers went straight through England having destroyed most of communication cubs. In the shire of Glostershire more than 400 people were left without electricity. The flood had also affected the sewerage activity. The most frightening thing is that the foot-and-mouth disease began to spread all over Great Britain. What will be the consequences for the country's economics- is difficult to predict.

Last week the rains had penetrated Germany as well. On 11th of august only had fallen the monthly norm of precipitations. The lands of Baden-Wurttemberg, Shelving- Goldstein, North Rein- Westville and Thuringia and Berlin were submerged. The Berlin airport Tegel had interrupted its work; the Autobahn A-5 was flooded. In a series of places some of the trailers were carried away. People are evacuated from the seaside villages and campsites. On the local authorities' reports in some areas the water level is waist-high. On the Rein the water crafts and the ferry activity is stopped; the traffic is also jammed along the river in the famous valley of castles. The culmination evening of the fireworks festival is doubtful; this year it was supposed to be held on the Middle Rein near the city of Koblenz.

In Switzerland the floods have enveloped Zurich, Basel, Sankt- Galen and the central part of the country. The inhabitants evacuate from the villages and the tourists are being rescued from the campsites. The rivers have overflown the banks; the authorities are opening the locks and dams, inundating the fields in order to save the built-up area. The flood damage is now more than 80 million dollars.

At the South of Spain the tourists had to be urgently evacuated from the campsite, they were nearly washed out with the water bursting from sky. In Barcelona the activity of the local trains was interrupted, particularly at the line which connects Barcelona with the international airport "Pratt".

The world has gone crazy. In Toscana the fires and heat is exchanged into strong rains and wind followed by coarse hail. In Florence was damaged the roof of the Uffizi gallery. At the same period of time in Milan some districts were left without electricity. The water in the city rose up to 1 meter and the traffic was paralyzed.

In Piedmont in Alps the snow fell, the temperature in the province of Cuneo was sometimes below zero and in Turin after 20C fell till 12-13C. The wind was so strong that it was tearing away the house roofs and uprooting the trees. The great snowfall blocked the motorway №27 which connects Italy and Switzerland.

At the North of France the fields are inundated, in some parts the highways were cut off. At the East of France is the Danger of the Rein's rise- the local authorities have declared 3 departments to be of a high danger.
After several weeks of heat in Romania for a couple of days the rain just wouldn't stop. One person is perished, several are considered missing. In the resort city Constanta over 400 houses are inundated. The streets have turned into full-flowing rivers, the traffic is stopped. Thousands of people are left without electricity. In village areas almost all the important roads are washed out, the bridges are destroyed.

On the 13th of august Bucharest was struck by a huge hurricane- one person dead, 10- wounded, the lifesavers had to help people out of the ruins of houses. The traffic is stopped at the most significant highways, several dozens of automobiles are damaged. The rain shower had partially inundated underground auto tunnels.

In the North of Bulgaria because of the floods 5 people died and 5 are considered missing. The rain showers were the reason for electricity interruption, damages of houses and highways.

A strong rain shower caused floods at the North of Greece, a part of houses is heated a little, and the main problems appeared in suburbs of Salonika and Alexandropoulos.

Apparently ecologists have good reasons to forebode the bride future for the present colder resorts. When during summer all over Europe the heat will reach the level of 40-50C, in northern countries the temperature will "only" raise till 30C and all the tourists will rush there.

Flight Cases

Flight Cases are containers used for the transportation of items, it keeps them safely packed and gives protection to anything that needs transporting. They were originally used by bands (rock and roll) that were on tour and needed to transport their equipment. They would use these cases to move their instruments, lighting equipment and sound equipment. Today these cases are used by a lot more people for things like Military uses, medical reasons, Film & TV, Touring and many other instances.

These cases are usually made from plywood sheets (phenolic or with aluminium layers, sometimes plastic layers are used). The sheets are held in place by the use of rivets and aluminium extrusion profiles. Galvanised steel is used to make the Hardware Fittings. Catches and Handles are often recessed types. The cases are manufactured slightly different, they are fitted with castors. To give extra protection to the contents being transported shock absorbing foam can be lined along the inside of the case.

These cases are fully customisable and are made to meet your specific requirements, whatever size you require them, they can be made to. It is quite common for these to be produced singularly where as a lot of items will only be made in mass production. The holes that are cut into the flight cases are done by CNC machinery and are designed to be used as catches and handles. The assembly of these cases is usually all manual with machines only being used to cut the sheets and profiles.

accident airbus 10.12.10.3gp

Пилот молодец, не стал выяснять обстоятельства, сразу пошел на посадку!!! 10.12.2010 Flight Bulgaria Air FB363 Sofia, Bulgaria-Moscow, Russia - Sheremetyevo I sat in the aircraft on the ground 8F in the right engine, about 10-15min. after takeoff, was a severe blow to the airframe with the engine blew internal Capac (hood) one piece flew off another blow to the fuel hoses and went kerosene I just looked out ...

747 Flight Simulator - Your Ticket to Piloting

Have you ever wanted to feel the thrill of piloting a Boeing 747 for yourself? What appeals to many people today, even in history, is the 747 aircraft. Now more than ever there are an abundance of flight simulator games that you can purchase on the Internet and begin playing straight away.

Piloting the 747 appeals to many people and because of this many flight simulator games feature a Boeing 747. The game that we have an affinity for here is Flight Pro Sim because this game features a number of 747's in the games' lineup as well as a number of Boeing aircrafts.

There are many 747 flight games available, but many are not worth downloading. If you have purchased any flight simulator games before you will know that Microsoft's Flight Simulator is up there in terms of flight simulators. We learned our lesson the hard way however - the software has many bugs and problems.

The 747 flight simulator version of Microsoft has a number of functional issues and according to recent news reports, Microsoft has stopped further developments with the game. This is sad news for many avid flight simulator fans, however, this is not the end of the world because Flight Pro Sim is actually a more advanced simulator game without the problems of Microsoft's version. The free simulator games which you can download are not all very good, that's why a lot of them are not worth your time.

We like the 747 flight simulator game, Flight Pro Sim because it is user friendly and you do not have to have a special high tech computer to use it. However, we suggest that you buy a gaming joystick as well so that you can get the full experience of flying a plane.

We are not the only ones who love playing this game, many people enjoy playing the game because it is so easy to play yet the detail is unsurpassed and you actually feel as if you are flying a real plane. The game includes an unbelievable statistics of 20,000 real world airports and more than 100 different aircraft types. The developers of this game really had their thinking caps on when they designed this game and makes an interesting game for anybody interested in flying a plane.

Helicopter flight training, like fixed-wing (airplane) flight training, is expensive. It's also more demanding in some ways than fixed-wing training. Many students must relocate to be near their schools. During the training process, you'll likely be spending over $1,000 each week just on your flight training. This is a serious investment, so be sure you're dedicated before you begin.

If you're not sure, take an introductory flight lesson. These are reasonably priced, and you'll gain a more intimate understanding of the helicopter training experience. Also, make sure you scrutinize a facility before deciding to enroll in their flight training program. One major point to consider is whether or not your helicopter school is FAA certified or not. A certification from the FAA guarantees a higher level of instruction and fewer hours required to achieve your helicopter pilot's certificate.

There are six different levels of helicopter ratings: Private, Commercial, Instrument, Flight Instructor, Instrument Instructor, and ATP. As with airplane flight training, you need a current medical certificate from an FAA certified physician.

The helicopter flight certification process is identical to that of a fixed wing school. You must be able to pass a written exam, an oral exam, and a flight test. Also, you must be 17 years old. It's not necessary that you've ever flown a plane before, though some pilots say learning in a fixed wing aircraft was helpful because they learn about the aviation environment prior to beginning their helicopter training. At many school it takes about 9 months to complete your helicopter flight training as a full-time student, and the time for completion as a part-time student depends on how much time you can spend flying and studying.

Learning to fly a helicopter can be very exciting. The differences between a helicopter and an airplane can make for an amazing flying experience for someone who has never flown a helicopter.

Avon, Colorado & Beaver Creek Resort

Eight miles west of Vail, Colorado, is the town of Avon, a community of 6,500 permanent and 3,500 temporary residents just minutes north of the Beaver Creek Ski Resort. Like Vail, Avon's growth is attributed to a nearby ski resort. Unlike Vail, some of the homes in this town are within the grasp of middle class families, starting at under $200,000 for select condominium units.

Beyond its ample housing stock, Avon has much to offer those who choose to visit the town or make the move there. Beaver Creek Ski Resort, sitting on 425 skiable acres and offering 4 chairlifts and 28 runs, is the primary drawing point for this community. Hotels serving the area include the town's pinnacle lodging establishment, a 237-room Ritz-Carlton, the West Beaver Creek Lodge, a Comfort Inn and several other hotels and inns.

Outdoors Spots

Recreational opportunities beyond the slopes are plentiful and include hiking, hunting, fishing, boating and camping nearby. In town, the 48 acre Harry A. Nottingham Park is a favorite place to ice skate, turning into a popular fishing and paddle boat destination once Nottingham Lake thaws. Basketball courts, tennis courts, athletic fields, volleyball courts, a children's playground, a picnic area and recreational paths are among the park's attractions. Your leashed dog is also welcome except when community events are being held.

Across from the park is another town attraction, the recreation center. The Avon Recreation Center is an expansive multi-use building featuring an exercise room with the latest cardiovascular equipment, a five-lane pool, a water slide and offers aquatic classes. This year 'round recreation center provides a great escape from the winter chill and place for residents to hone their swimming skills.

Town Center

Settlers began to make Avon home in the 1880s, enjoying the area's rich, fertile land once a favorite place to grow lettuce. Nearly a century would pass before the town of Avon was officially incorporated as landowner families, including the Nottinghams, sold their property as Beaver Creek Ski Resort began to take form.

Today, Avon is working on a town center renovation project, in a bid to create a unified retail, dining and community area or business district. That project will only enhance the town's appeal which has risen in recent years thanks to the largest fireworks display in the Rockies, summer movies in the park and other special events held during the warmer months of the year.

Public Transit

Like Vail, Avon has a pubic transit system in place, which means you can travel throughout the town no matter the weather without worrying about a place to park or needing to brush your car off following yet another snowfall.

So, whether you're visiting Avon on vacation or looking for a place to live, this lovely Colorado community has plenty to offer, an attractive resort town just two hours from Denver.

Blue Angels Miramar 2006

US Navy Blue Angel's 60th Anniversary show at MCAS Miramar. Filmed by Paul Reese. At the end of World War II, Chester W. Nimitz, then the Chief of Naval Operations, ordered the formation of a flight demonstration team to keep the public interested in naval aviation. The Blue Angels performed their first flight demonstration less than a year later in June 1946 at their home base, Naval Air Station (NAS) Jacksonville, Florida. Flying the Grumman F6F Hellcat, they were led by Lt. Cmdr. Roy "Butch" Voris. Only two months later on August 25, 1946, the Blue Angels transitioned to the Grumman F8F Bearcat. One year later, the 1947 team, led by Lt. Cmdr. Robert Clarke, introduced the now famous "Diamond Formation." By the end of the 1940's the Blue Angels were flying their first jet aircraft, the Grumman F9F-2 Panther. In response to the demands placed on naval aviation in the Korean Conflict, the team reported to the aircraft carrier USS Princeton as the nucleus of Fighter Squadron 191 (VF-191), Satan's Kittens, in 1950. The team reorganized the next year and reported to NAS Corpus Christi, Texas, where they began flying the newer and faster version of the Panther, the F9F-5. The Blue Angels remained in Corpus Christi until the winter of 1954 when they relocated to their present home base at NAS Pensacola, Florida. It was here that they progressed to the swept-wing Grumman F9F-8 Cougar. The ensuing 20 years saw the Blue Angels transition to two more aircraft, the Grumman F11F-1 ...

2009 Bayliner 185 Flight Boat Review

Without a doubt, the Bayliner 185 has been one of the most popular bow rider boats under 20 feet world wide. The 185 has always been a great family boat, excellent for taking the kids out on the water for a day of fishing or tubing.

The large stern sun pad makes for a comfortable day of relaxing and sun tanning. The 185 is easy to tow from lake to lake with a towing road weight of 3000 pounds.

With a standard base price around $16,000 (at the time this article was written), you can easily understand why the Bayliner 185 is on so many bow rider boat buyers short list.

Some of the standard features are;

Corner starboard jump seats which can be flipped upside down so they can be used as steps to get to the transom or fishing platform.
The cockpit seats are deep, an excellent security feature especially for children. Also makes for a warmer boat outing in early spring or late fall when cooler weather is upon us.
The stereo system is a Jensen 129 watt with two marine speakers and a MP3 jack, providing plenty of sound for this size of boat.

The Optional Bayliner 185 Flight Package

The optional flight package comes with a custom wakeboard tower, additional Jensen marine stereo speakers, adjustable bimini top, spreader lights and an extended swim platform.

Powered with a Mercury Marine Mercruiser 4.3 inboard/outboard engine with a top speed of 50 m.p.h. The Bayliner 185 planes out quickly (3-4 seconds) fast enough for towing water sports fun all day long.

This is why year after year the Bayliner 185 has been one of the most popular bow rider boats the boating industry has seen.

Learn Italian in Italy

Why study Italian in Italy?

Reason 1

Thousands of students travel abroad each year to learn Italian language. They realize that the most effective way to learn Italian language is to learn in the country the language is spoken and may be used not only in the classroom, but all day and in the street, shops, restaurants...

Reason 2

Italy is a world leader in the culinary arts, interior design, fashion, graphic design, furniture design, etc. Those planning careers in such fields greatly benefit from knowing Italian and Italy.

Reason 3

Living in Italy can be a fantastic cultural experience. Although it can be said that Italian cannot be considered as a vehicular language, it is just as true that it cannot be relegated to a language of the past. Are you an art and culture enthusiast? Italy, the country with the highest concentration of art, history, culture, nature, good food and wine in the world, is one of the most popular vacation countries in Europe.
Wherever you choose to study Italian in Italy you will find something unique: beautiful natural scenery, history, customs, delicious food, colourful festivals and warm people.

Reason 4

The Italian welcome is warm everywhere, people are friendly and all seasons are good for a visit.

What you should know

Information about visas for entry into Italy

Citizens from countries from which a visa is necessary to enter Italy can enroll in and attend a course provided that they have a visa for TOURISM (for stays of up to 90 days) or for STUDY (indispensable for periods of over 90 days).
Before enrolling in one of our courses we would ask you to contact the Italian diplomatic representation or Consulate nearest your place of residence to obtain precise, up-to-date information.

In some countries it takes a long time to obtain a visa and for this reason it is advisable to contact the Consulates as soon as possible.

For countries, such as:
Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Ecuador, El Savador, Estonia, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Malesia Mexico, New Zealand, Paraguay, Poland, Rumania, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, South Korea, United States, Uruguay, Venezuela, there is no obligation to apply for an entry visa for purposes of tourism for periods of up to 90 days.

To check up on any changes in these lists, we advise visiting the site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: http://www.esteri.it/eng/5_32_183.asp? and the site of the European Union: http://europa.eu.int/abc/travel/doc/index_en.htm

In any case, even if a visa is not required, to avoid problems with the Police, always make sure that your passport is stamped with the date of entry into Italy by the Italian Border Police.

The documents normally required by the consular authorities are:

1. Passport valid for at least 3 months (for some countries it must be valid for at least 6 months) longer than that of the visa applied for
2. Return air ticket (or return ticket for any other means of transport) or the flight booking
3. Proof of possession of sufficient financial means for self-support during the stay in Italy, according to the parameters specified above.
The applicant, by means of appropriate documentation (e.g. declaration of employment, cash, credit card, travellers cheques or other), will have to prove that he/she is in a socio-economic situation or work or family position that can guarantee his/her genuine interest in returning to his/her country of origin at the end of the period of validity of the visa.
4. Confirmation of hotel booking or any other suitable accommodation.
5. Health insurance with adequate cover and valid for all the countries of the Schengen area.

Anyone applying for a visa for purposes of study must also:

a) stipulate a medical insurance policy, valid in the event of urgent hospitalization without limits on expenses or duration with 1'"INA - Le assicurazioni d'Italia". This insurance is fairly cheap, on 03/10/2003 it costs euro 38.73 for 6 months or 77.46 euro for 12 months and covers risk of hospitalization in the event of injuries or illnesses that necessitate emergency hospitalization, but cannot be used for out-patient or domiciliary medical examinations. For this reason it is necessary to have also medical insurance from ones own country, valid in Italy, that covers these risks.

b) show documented proof of the course to be attended (certificate of enrolment in the course).

Those applying for a visa for purrposes of tourism must also:

Stipulate medical insurance cover, valid in the case of urgent hospitalization without any limit on expenses or duration, with INA -Le assicurazioni d'Italia". This insurance covers the risk of hospitalization in the event of traumas or illnesses that necessitate urgent hospitalization, but cannot be used for surgery or domiciliary examinations. For this reason it is also necessary to have medical insurance from the country of origin, valid in Italy, covering these risks.

Once the possession of the minimum requisites required by law has been verified and the necessary information obtained from the Consulate, the student can then enroll in the course by sending to the school the enrolment form and effecting a single payment of the entire cost of the course booked. Only at that point can the school, in order to make possible the initiation of the visa application procedure, issue the enrolment certificate, the letter of confirmation for the course with the address of the accommodation booked and the receipt for the amount paid.

It is not possible to issue a visa (nor the extension of a pre-existing visa) to a foreigner who is already on Italian territory. To make possible officially extensions of the period of stay, only extensions or renewals of the residence permit are valid.

In Italy the Police cannot extend or renew residence permits of the visa is type "C".

Further information about the issue of visas and residence permits can be found by visiting the following sites:

Mistero degli Affari Esteri
http://www.esteri.it/eng/2_11.asp
Addresses of all the Italian Diplomatic and Consular Representations in the world (in Italian). Information about visas in languages other than Italian can be found in the web sites of some Embassies.

Ministero dell'Interno - Polizia di Stato
http://www.poliziadistato.it/pds/cittadino/stranieri/stranier.htm
Information about entry into Italy and work permits (in Italian)

At the end it should be remembered that within eight days from the date of entry into Italy, all foreigners are required to apply for a residence permit to the Police (Questura) of the town in which they reside. The secretary of the School provides assistance with the application for the residence permit.

Flight Planning Software

Flying an aircraft is a complicated task in and of itself. Navigating from one point to another over unknown terrain can be even more complex, but trying to do both at once quickly becomes overwhelming. This is why proper flight planning is such a necessity to any good pilot or airman. Luckily in today's world, flight planning software exists to help speed the process along while maintaining accuracy. By entering such variables as wind speed and direction, aircraft weight, course and temperature, flight planning software programs can calculate a host of important information such as wind correction angle, true airspeed, runway crosswinds, and magnetic variation. Great aviation websites like Student Flying Club even offer pilots a free online E6B flight computer!

For many new pilot's, mastering the E6B flight calculator is one of the most complicated tasks to learn. And although becoming a pilot requires learning how to use such a great tool, online flight planning software including an E6B can help speed up the learning process. Any calculation that can be made on a manual E6B can usually be made on an online version of such flight planning software. Temperature conversions from Fahrenheit to Celsius and wind chill calculations are possible, as well as density altitude, pressure conversion, heat index, dew point, and relative humidity percentages that help determine whether or not a flight is viable that day. Magnetic variation calculations for flight planning also help determine course corrections by entering the latitude and longitude needed for different parts of the Continental US, Europe, and even Alaska. In the past these figures needed to be calculated either manually or through a hand-held E6B calculator, but with new flight planning software this information is available with just a few short keystrokes.

Aside from the online E6B computer, pilots can take advantage of other pieces of flight planning software available to them as well. Airport Distance calculators are a great tool for determining the distance and heading between two distinct airports. Some of these distance calculators go through great lengths to maintain a large database of airports - not only those larger ones in class C and D airspace but also the smaller, non-tower controlled airports. This helps student pilots in flight planning by allowing them to plot several different courses from their own home airport, regardless of how small it may be. Learning to fly while based at a larger airport can be daunting, and most pilots get their private license flying out of smaller home airfields.

Online flight planning also includes takeoff and landing distance calculators, as well as complicated weight and balance charts. These online flight planning tools take most of the manual mathematics out of the picture, allowing for less margin of error. Aviation flight planning of course may also include the filing of an actual flight plan with local airport towers or FSS (flight service stations), and such a flight plan is required for IFR routes. While there's currently no direct online way to file a flight plan, some flight planning software offers helpful printable forms that can be filled out from your keyboard and then printed on paper. Required fields and form checking help maintain that such forms are properly filled out before being submitted to the proper authorities and filed as flight plans.

Finally, one of the most important aspects of planning a flight is the observance of up-to-date current weather conditions. Flight planning software comes in extremely handy here, where most every website or application can now be easily linked to the NOAA's National Weather Service. Forecasting is still never an exact science, flight planning tools and applications can usually come pretty close to determining near-future weather conditions. Immediate airport condition reports from across the US and even the world can be instantly collated into a central location and displayed for pilots right before a flight so they can make a go or no-go decision right before scheduled takeoff. And as satellite-driven GPS technology becomes sharper and smaller, such GPS units become more readily available to today's pilot. He or she can fly their aircraft and get up-to-the-second weather information simply by looking at their externally mounted GPS units or even their glass cockpit displays.

Flight planning software has come a long way in a very short period of time, and there seems to be no limit to the amount of good it can do. Technology has made today's pilot a safer, more educated airman. Planning a flight has been made easier and more error-free, and keeping track of flight plans has become a lot more manageable. In the end, as long as technology continues to advance, piloting an aircraft will continue to be made safer.
