How to Pass the Time in Bangalore

More often than not you will go on the same kind of holiday each and every year. But it feels good to do something a bit different now and again too, and the easiest way to do this is to go to a completely different location. Indeed, Bangalore perhaps isn't a destination you have been to in the past. But while some people are only vaguely familiar with the name, this location has the potential to make the ideal holiday destination.

Bangalore is situated in southern India, east of the coastal Mangaluru and west of Chennai on the opposite coast. It is a major city, and as such a thriving antidote to a beach holiday - it is also recognised as the capital of Karnataka.

One of the main advantages of going to Bangalore on holiday is that the weather tends to be quite pleasant all year round. The summer months are wonderfully warm, and even in the depths of winter the air is pleasant and you won't need to wrap up too much.

As you would expect, there are plenty of places you can explore during a visit to this city and one of the best ways to see the best of them is to grab a seat on a sightseeing tour. These are available for both half days and full days, so you can choose the tour that suits you best. A spectacular sight worth seeing is the Bangalore Palace, and you may be surprised to discover that its inspiration was England's very own Windsor Castle.

One thing you will notice about this city is the elegance and orderly nature of its streets and parks. In fact, the overall layout of the city is extremely well planned. You can visit Ulsoor Lake in the centre of Bangalore, for example. This is a classic example of how the city has been created around this beautiful lake - it offers a real oasis and a calm spot to enjoy in the midst of the city itself. There are also many museums to explore in the city; in particular the Government Museum which proves an interesting visit and is free to enter.

There is also a wide range of food options open to you as you wander round the city. You won't find too much fried food here - the locals love to bake and steam their food, sealing in all the flavours and keeping it healthy as well. Perfect for filling you up as you visit the various sights in the city!

It is important to remember that taxis often prove the best mode of transport, which is good to know for when you arrive from your flights to Bangalore. Indeed, you may be more reliant on such transport than you think if you attempt to explore as many sights as possible on holiday here.
